The Medina Early Childhood PTA (MECPTA)* is a volunteer group of families (primarily moms) who have children ages birth to kindergarten. The group is comprised of families from all over Medina County, who work to provide quality, local programs and events for families with little ones.
In addition to a General Meeting which is held once a month to discuss various topics of interest to moms, caregivers or families, the volunteers also stay active by working on fundraisers, community service projects, and planning special events. Most events are available only to MECPTA members, and they include such favorites as: Toddler, Son and I, Daughter and I, and Grandparents Party. We also coordinate activities for most major holidays, offer a science night, Spanish Class, FitKids, and playgroups for kids (and Mom’s and/or Dad’s) of all ages.
The monthly General Meeting is open for anyone from the public to attend and during the program, there is typically a special guest speaker who discusses a topic important to kids and families.
Some of the funds from the group’s fundraising activities have been devoted to the Diane E. Guenther Preschool Scholarship.
Diane was an activate MECPTA member who sadly lost her battle with cancer. Since that time, her husband has donated funds to provide a preschool scholarship to a family in need. This year, the MECPTA will be matching the $1,000.00 donation from Mark Guenther in his wife's honor.
The DEG scholarship is open to all Medina County families whose child would not be able to attend preschool or has been forced to terminate or restrict attendance due to financial hardship. We are proud to continue this outreach program and are excited to be awarding (2) $1,000.00 preschool scholarships.
If you or anyone you know is an eligible family who might be interested in such assistance for the 2017-2018 school year, please have them complete and submit the application no later than April 15, 2017. Application forms are available here.
All applicant information will remain strictly confidential. We expect to award the scholarship by the end of May and payment will be made directly to the family's chosen preschool.
