Mill Stream Park in Valley City is a fantastic place to spend the day-the options for fun are limitless! It is home to a large play structure with rock climbing, slides, bridges, monkey bars, and more:

One of my favorite things about this park is the .7 mile all purpose trail that runs around the perimeter of the park. The park is full of wide open space, so your kids can walk, run, or ride pretty far while you keep an eye on them, or pack them up in the jogger and get some exercise yourself!
If you turn left into the parking lot when you arrive and walk over by the trees, you will find a short path that leads down to the river - a perfect place for wading, fishing, skipping rocks, and even playing in the sand.
Any time I've been there, there's never been more than a few other people there so it's always quiet. The trees are beautiful and the kids can easily spend an entire morning or afternoon playing in the water. I am sure the trees look amazing as the leaves start to change, too.
The bathrooms are clean and modern, and there is a pavilion with picnic tables, so bring lunch! There isn't much shade at Mill Stream Park, so lather on the sunscreen or visit earlier or later in the day. Have fun!
