Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents The LaGrange Duo on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at HeARTland, 8187 Camp Road, Homerville, OH 44235 at 7 pm. Based out of Georgia and Alabama, Jacqueline Pickett (double bass) and Lorna Wood (violin/viola) will perform the first movement of Edgar Meyer’s Duo for Violin and Double Bass; Astor Piazzolla’s Five Tangos; Andrea Clearfield’s Three Songs based on the Poetry of Pablo Neruda and Beethoven’s Eyeglasses for violin and double bass.
The musicians will feature some solo works, including a piece by Joseph Wood, an Irish jig and a McCoy Tyner jazz fiddle piece arranged by John Blake Jr. The concert also will feature strings students who will participate in a music camp with Pickett and Wood the day of the concert. The students will perform Pickett’s arrangement of Aaron Copland’s “Hoe-Down” from Rodeo.
Tickets are $12 in advance available online here or $14 on the day of the concert. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the concert around Rusalka’s Pond. For more information call 419-853-6016.
